« back to classes page
In a hands-on beginning photography workshop, gain an understanding of the basic camera operations of f/stops, shutter speeds, ISO, and white balance while using natural light. Using the HDSLR format, learn the controls and functions of your DSLR camera from in-class demonstrations on exposure, depth-of-field, composition, focusing, metering, motion, and image quality. Weekly assignments--critiqued in class--will focus on specific technical information, then progress into more creative personal projects. A Digital Single Lens Reflex camera (DSLR) or Mirrorless camera with manual focus and exposure capabilities is required. Bring your camera and instruction manual to the first class.

Notice

Please read:  Requirements: Equipment & Other · DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) or a mirrorless camera with full manual controls (would be nice, but required of your camera’s functions), built in light meter, with a standard focal length lens (anywhere from 16-105mm depending on sensor size, zoom or fixed) with apertures from that includes f/4-f/16. I’m very loose on your lens “requirements,” so do not put too much thought into this. Some type of devise with internet connection that is consistent. You will need a computer with digital image viewing software or other software capable of re-naming your image files. Each camera manufacturer provides this type of software free. You will need internet access to transfer files for in-class review. Note: We’ll be discussing various optional items that would be helpful in producing specific shooting assignments or to maximize image quality as the class progresses.
